I heard about the five item challenge on MUA. Basically it is a limit of five fashion purchases over a period of time not including foundation garments like undies and socks. This period of time depends on the challenge issuer. It can be per season as defined by a winter/summer split or a winter/spring/summer/fall split. For the more advanced individual it can be a period of a whole year.
The limit of five items is truly arbitrary. Some may find this number to be too small or too large. There is no real reason to stick to a set number rather than only purchasing what one needs. However, it can simplify process for beginner minimalists and makes it more difficult to justify going past your limit. So here I go!
I'm going to start off with the four season split as I'm still experimenting with my style and also can't afford the highest quality clothing.
My five items for winter are as follows:
A smaller version of this vintage Coach bag. Originally I had wanted this bag, but now that I have seen a proper size comparison, I'll just use this one as inspiration. I'm looking for something just large enough for my phone, a small wallet, digital camera and a tube of lip gloss. No more digging around in oversized bags or searching through the many compartments of my fossil bag for my keys or phone!
A light weight bifold wallet to carry in the purse. The one I have is unnecessarily large. I'm interested in this
Transit Traveler by Fossil ($40) for its sleek design and decent quality.

A narrow waist belt for cinching in all my loose shirts and dresses. I like the one pictured above, by the Barneys New York house brand, but my size is sold out :(

I really really really want a watch. I had a cheap skeleton style watch that I bought at a convention, but it broke. Originally, I wanted to replace it with another boyfriend sized watch like the tortoise Michael Kors one on the left ($200), but I tried on one similar to the watch on the right in Japan Town, San Francisco and just adored it. Unfortunately, it is (of course) $400. For reference, it is the Il Bisonte Double Wrap Watch.
Aaaand I have no fifth item. Yet. I want a casual top, but I have no specifics that I can afford. I'd like the following Utility Shirt With Stormflap Detail by Alexander Wang ($475), but I'm going to be a bit more realistic. ;_;

Hmm... Can you tell from this post that I love black leather :p
